This summer, our interns and volunteers brought fresh energy and lasting impact to Preservation Utah’s work: - Marketing intern Caroline Maffett launched our Community Survey, designed a Memorial House Story Collection process, and developed a year-long communications plan to grow awareness, engagement, and fundraising.
- Preservation intern Suvam Pokarel organized decades of easement records and improved our compliance systems—key steps in protecting Utah’s historic places.
- Longtime volunteer Bim Oliver and Lindsey Bevan expanded and updated our mobile tour app—new tours are here! Want to feature your neighborhood? Reach out!
- Public policy intern Gracie Kolbenschlag created a bill tracker, updated impact data, built survey tools, and mapped out strategic advocacy partners.
- And thanks to volunteer Rachel, we now have a fully inventoried Preservation Utah Library—ready to support staff, students, and preservation partners.
We’re so grateful for the dedication and talent these individuals brought to our mission! |

July Highlight: Preservation Alumni Reunion |
July Highlight: Preservation Alumni Reunion |
Last month, we were honored to host the annual Preservation Utah Reunion—an evening dedicated to celebrating the people who have shaped our mission across decades. Alumni from all corners of the preservation movement, including former board members, staff, volunteers, and longtime supporters, came together to reconnect, share memories, and reflect on the lasting legacy they’ve helped build. The event offered a chance to share stories, celebrate milestones, and spark new connections across generations of preservationists. It reminded us that our work is not only about protecting places, but also about honoring the people who make that work possible. We were especially proud to kick off the planning for our 60th Anniversary Celebration during the gathering. With our eyes on the future and deep gratitude for our past, the event marked the beginning of what we’re thrilled to now call an annual tradition. To all who joined us: thank you. Your continued presence and passion help carry Preservation Utah forward. We look forward to gathering again next year and growing this meaningful tradition. |
